My Own Montessori opened it's doors in October 2003. Owner/Teacher, Lynn Arnsdorf was a stay-at-home Montessori Mom for several years before going back to teaching after her third child was born. Lynn received her Montessori training (a 2 year commitment) after seeing the successes of her own children. The peaceful and nurturing environment is ripe for knowledge gathering. Her own children were cared for, had a zest for learning and had a tremendous sense of confidence entering first grade.
After working several years at Montessori School of St. Cloud and Heritage Montessori in Big Lake, Lynn decided to start her own school. She wanted to create a small school environment that was geared towards parents who wanted to find quality preschool but did not want a huge mega-school environment. The classroom size at M.O.M. will remain small...22-23 students, but usually 20 or less. She also wanted to offer part-time schedules for parents who wanted to gradually start their children in school. Most Montessori schools are 5 days a week...at My Own Montessori, there is a 2day/wk and 3day/wk option! Lynn also wanted to offer a secular and diverse environment that welcomed all cultures, beliefs and faiths....this is what makes the world go round!
Lynn's education background: High School - St. Anthony Village (northeast suburb of Mpls) 1974
B.S., Univ. of MN 1978, Elementary Education
Montessori Certification, Primary Level
Southwestern Montessori Training Center

Laurie Horvath is our classroom assistant, the bones of any Montessori classroom!! The assistant has to be on top of things. She's the eyes and ears of the room. Ms. Laurie can do it all! You will not meet a more generous, loving, and kind woman than Ms.
Laurie! She brings to the classroom a warm smile, a loving hand, and a willingness to go above and beyond for the good of M.O.M and your child! Personnel is the key to a good school and we are absolutely FORTUNATE to have found Ms. Laurie.

Susan Svardahl is our classroom aide. She has a nice soft-spoken, Montessori way about her. You will always be greeted with a warm smile from Susan. Susan is a resident of the area, an experienced mom and an educated woman. She works in the office, leads small language groups, heads up art projects, and maintains and organizes supplies and materials.
Jack Lofgren is
our new aide. He is a student at St. Cloud State University and Lynn's son. He will be helping in a variety of roles including cleaning, organization and supplies maintenance. Jack is excited to be working at MOM and is very familiar with the Montessori method, having been a student...and also, growing up in a Montessori home.
